Guadalupe caracara

The Guadalupe caracara or mourning caracara is an extinct bird of prey native to the Mexican island of Guadalupe of the coast of Baja California. It was closely related to the crested caracara and southern caracara. It was declared extinct between 1900 and 1903 like the Pyrenean ibex was declared extinct between 2000 and 2009. Guadalupe island is also a volcanic island and people go shark diving to see great white sharks. It was probably the 1st animal to become extinct in the 20th century.
