Vancouver island black bear

The Vancouver island black bear (Ursus Americanus Vancouveri) is a subspecies of the American black bear native to Vancouver island, British Columbia, Canada. American black bears are the most common bear species in the world and some subspecies are endangered such as the Mexican black bear. I hope the Vancouver island black bear isn't endangered like the Vancouver island gray wolf or the Mexican black bear. Vancouver island black bears are larger than those other mainland black bears like the Newfoundland lynx is larger than those mainland Canadian lynxes.

Yellow throated marten

The yellow throated marten or kharza (Matres Flavigula)is a Asian species of mustelid native to India, China, Taiwan, and Indonesia. As of 2005, 9 subspecies are recognized including the Indian, Amur, Formosan, Hainan, Sumatran, Indochinese, Malaysian, Javan, and Bornean. The Formosan is rare and probably endangered. It is listed as least concern as of the 1990's. The Formosan yellow throated marten is one of the 3 best known top predators of Taiwan along with the extinct Formosan clouded leopard and the endangered Formosan black bear.

Ussuri black bear

The Ussuri or Manchurian black bear (Ursus Thibetanus Ussuricus) is the largest subspecies of the Asiatic black bear native to the Amur/Ussuri region of Southeastern Russia, Northeastern China, and the Korean peninsula. It was 1st described in 1901 by zoologist Pierre Marie Heude. There were 2 prehistoric subspecies of the Asian black bear native to Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Caucasus. It is way different than the Ussuri BROWN bear.

Rock hyrax

The rock hyrax, also known as the rock badger or cape hyrax, is a species of mustelid native to South Africa, the Arabian peninsula, North Africa, and Central Africa. If you want to see the rock hyrax in some of my other posts, go to the June 2015 section. It is the only species in the genus Procavia.

Maine coon

The Main coon is a domestic cat breed that comes from the US sate of Maine in the Northeastern USA. It is one of the largest breed of cat in the world. In fact, they also come from the British isles because there are rare black panther sightings there and the British government claims that those cats are just Maine coons. Scottish wildcats seem very much like domestic cats but they are twice as large as them.
