Formosan black bear
The Formosan black bear (Ursus Thibetanus Formosanus), also known as the white throated bear, is an endangered subspecies of the Asian black bear native to the island of Taiwan and are also the largest land animals living in Taiwan. It is one of the 7 subspecies of the Asiatic black bear along with the Baluchistan, Japanese, Himalayan, Indochinese, Tibetan, and Ussuri black bears. The Ussuri black bear is the largest of all the subspecies and the smallest is the Baluchistan. The 2nd largest land carnivore of Taiwan is the extinct Formosan clouded leopard. It is Taiwan's only native bear and in 2001, it was considered to be the most representative of all the animals of Taiwan. It is listed as endangered under Taiwan's wildlife conservation act in 1989. My fact posts on my blog with the subspecies are the Formosan, Baluchistan, and Japanese. If you don't know anything about the Japanese black bear, go to the December section and it was made on December 30th, 2015. The Formosan black bear primarily feeds on acorns, small animals, and fruit.
