The Eastern falanouc (Eupleres Goudotii) is a rare mongoose-like mammal endemic to Madagascar and classified in the carnivorous mammal family Eupleridae. Its closest relative is the Western falanouc (Eupleres Major) of Northwestern Madagascar. Its 2nd closest relative of course is the Malagasy civet. It's more of a civet than a mongoose. Its nickname is small-toothed civet.
