The Ussuri or Manchurian black bear (Ursus Thibetanus Ussuricus) is the largest subspecies of the Asiatic black bear native to the Amur/Ussuri region of Southeastern Russia, Northeastern China, and the Korean peninsula. It was 1st described in 1901 by zoologist Pierre Marie Heude. There were 2 prehistoric subspecies of the Asian black bear native to Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Caucasus. It is way different than the Ussuri BROWN bear.
