The Sakhalin fox (Vulpes Vulpes Schrencki), also known as the Hokkaido fox, is a subspecies of red fox native to the Russian island of Sakhalin and the Japanese island of Hokkaido. It is one of the 4 canines native to Sakhalin island along with the Raccoon dog, Sakhalin husky, and the extinct Hokkaido wolf. In Japanese mythology, there were folklores of foxes with 9 tails.
