Red wolf

The red wolf (Canis Rufus) is a critically endangered wolf native to the Southeastern USA. It has 3 subspecies, the recently extinct Florida black and Gregory's wolves, and the critically endangered common red wolf of Eastern North Carolina. It is claimed to be a subspecies of Canis Lupus (Canis Lupus Rufus) or a hybrid of a gray wolf and coyote. Wolves live(ed) everywhere in North America, except Hawaii and the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico. The Florida black wolf and Gregory's wolf were also subspecies of the gray wolf (Canis Lupus). Either it's a seperate species, a subspecies of Canis Lupus, or a hybrid of a gray wolf and coyote.
