Dusicyon Avus was a Patagonian ancestor of the Falkland islands wolf (Dusicyon Australis) and was the size of the German shepherd. It went extinct in the early 1500's due to hunting by humans. It may have been kept as a pet by humans. Besides the Falklands wolf, there are other recently extinct carnivores (no subspecies) including Sea minks, Japanese sea lions, Caribbean monk seals, and Giant fossas.
