Javan elephant

The Javan elephant (Elephas Maximus Sondaicus) is a critically endangered but possibly extinct subspecies of the Asian elephant native to the Indonesian island of Java. They were actually native to the island of Borneo and were introduced to the island of Java and became extinct there in the 1500's. The Chinese and Syrian elephants, which are also subspecies of the Asian elephant are also extinct.
