Sardinian giant otter

The Sardinian giant otter (Megalenhydris) is a Late Pleistocene giant otter from the Italian island of Sardinia in the Mediterranean sea. It is known from a single skeleton, discovered in the Grotta Di Ispinigoli near Dorgali, and was described in 1987. It is one of the 4 extinct otter species from the island along with Algarolutra, Cyrnolutra, and Sardolutra. They were much larger than any other species, even the Amazon giant otters.

  1. Nice drawing. But one comment: the species was probably more feeding on crustaceans/shellfish, as I wrote in the roiginal publication of the species. Rahter than fish.
