The jungle cat (Felis Chaus), also known as the reed cat, swamp cat, jungle lynx, or steppe cat, is a small wild cat native to Egypt, The Caucasus, The Caspian region, India, Sri-Lanka, and Southeast Asia. Like the caracal of Africa and Southwest Asia, the jungle cat is very lynx like and doesn't belong in the lynx family. It is one of the 6 main cats that belong in the genus Felis on the Felis lineage along with the Black footed cat, European wildcat, Sand cat, African wildcat, and Domestic cat.
