The Hokkaido red backed vole (Myodes Rex) is a subspecies of red backed vole native to Hokkaido in Japan. It is listed as least concern and it would have been prey for the recently extinct Hokkaido wolf and also the Ussuri brown bear. There have been sightings after the Hokkaido wolf's extinction but none have been confirmed.
