Hyneria

Hyneria is a prehistoric lobe-finned fish that lived during the Devonian period around 360 million years ago. It weighed 2 tonnes and was 5 meters long. Its fossils were 1st discovered in Pennsylvania in 1968. In Walking With Monsters, a female attacked and killed a Stethacanthus shark and chased a Hynerpeton salamander, but he escaped. However, the female later encountered the male Hynerpeton while it was mating and successfully killed him. Hyneria can attack like killer whales after seals, only by missing their prey, but they had remarkably powerful fins. Its name is a reference to the village of Hyner, Pennsylvania. Just like the Neanderthal's name refers to Neandertal in France and Germany, and the Irish elk's name refers to the place its fossils were first found, Ireland. Do you wish Hyneria was still alive?
