The Japanese marten is a mustelid in the Marten genus more closely related to the sable and is 6 inches in length. There are 3 subspecies of the Japanese marten and they are the Japanese marten, Tsushima marten, and the Korean marten. It lives on Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu and has been introduced to Hokkaido.
