The Indian jackal (Canid Areus Indicus), also known as the Himalayan jackal, is a subspecies of golden jackal native to Pakistan, India, Bhutan, Burma, and Nepal and is different than its Eurasian and African counterparts. Tabaqui is an Indian jackal and is Shere Khan's sycophantic, devious sidekick, lacking the courage to disagree with his tiger master. Tabaqui is voiced by Nigel Pilkington and Rikki Tikki Tavi is also voiced by that director.
