Mexican jaguar

The Mexican jaguar (Panthera onca hernardesii) is another recently extinct jaguar that ranged from Central Mexico to the USA and inland to Guatemala. The Arizona jaguar (Panthera onca arizonensis) was the largest recently extinct jaguar and the largest ever was the Pleistocene North American jaguar (Panthera onca augusta). There are 3 surviving species, 5 recently extinct species, and 4 prehistoric species.
