Tasmanian emu

The Tasmanian emu, as mainland birds, were hunted as pests. The practice of setting fire to grasslands and shrublands to aid in claiming land agriculture deprived the birds of habitat. It is known in 1838, 2 skin specimens were recieved by a British museum. It went extinct in the 1850's. All extinct emus went extinct in the 1800's.
